Dr. Laurie Glader is the Pediatric Complex Care Division Chief and Medical Director of the Cerebral Palsy Center at Nationwide Children's Hospital. A graduate of Stanford University and UCLA School of Medicine, Dr. Glader completed her pediatric residency and fellowship in Behavioral and Developmental Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital where she is Director of the Complex Care Service Outpatient Program and Co-Director of the multi-disciplinary Cerebral Palsy Center.
Dr. Glader’s work is comprised of clinical care, teaching, advocacy and research. She lectures and writes frequently on topics related to the care of children with medical complexity (CMC), particularly those with cerebral palsy. She is currently co-editing a book for generalists on the care and management of children with severe forms of CP. Active research is focused on the role of pediatricians in multi-disciplinary teams caring for children with CP, with a specific focus on peri-operative management of children undergoing spinal fusion. Dr. Glader has also recently conducted research as part of the Transforming Healthcare for Women with Disabilities work supported by the Cerebral Palsy Foundation with the goal of enhancing reproductive health education for young women with cerebral palsy. Additional past research efforts include evaluating unmet health care needs in families who have children with medical complexity, evaluating how pediatric residents in Massachusetts are trained to care for CMC, and a National Institute of Disability and Rehabilitation Research funded project entitled “Opening Doors for Children with Special Health Care Needs and Disabilities.”
Dr. Glader is active in the American Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine where she was the first chair and founder of the Complex Care Committee. Amongst other activities, she has also participated on the Care Pathways Taskforce where she led the creation of a pathway on sialorrhea. She is formerly Associate in Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Glader has served as Commissioner of the Governor of Massachusetts on the Catastrophic Illness in Children Relief Fund, as a chair of the Committee on Disabilities in the Massachusetts Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and as Medical Director at the Cotting School for children with special needs.
