I have been a therapist for 21 years, a social worker for nearly 30. Upon graduation from Hope College, I worked in a relational ministry for teens. Following completion of my MSW from Western Michigan University, I became a therapist at Bethany Christian Services. I also have extensive experience in end of life issues and bereavement counseling.
My passion is clinical work, engaging in a counseling relationship with clients who are seeking change for themselves. I am a licensed social worker in Michigan and a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers. I have experience and training working with adolescents, adults, children, couples and families. For the last 9 years, I have been in private practice, focusing currently on EMDR. This is a modality that addresses trauma on many levels through the use of bilateral stimulation (tapping, eye movements or auditory.)
I am married, a mom of 3 teens ages 18, 16 and 13. I enjoy writing, reading, biking and spending time with those I hold dear. I also have CP, which gives me beautiful and hard perspective in everything I do. I am grateful for the opportunity to engage with the important work of the Cerebral Palsy Foundation.
