Helen Long, PhD, CCC-SLP is a T32 postdoctoral researcher at the Waisman Center of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is based in the Wisconsin Intelligibility, Speech, and Communication (WISC) Laboratory (PI: Katie Hustad). Helen began her career as a speech-language pathologist (SLP) and worked for 9 years before and during her doctoral training as an SLP developing her research questions.

Her primary line of research examines prelinguistic vocal biomarkers of speech impairment in infants at risk for cerebral palsy, the most common motor disability in childhood.

Helen is a co-founding collaborator of CSDisseminate, a volunteer-based online resource dedicated to educating CSD scientists and clinicians on green open access practices in research.
