Heather Riordan, MD is a neurologist and movement disorders specialist. Dr. Riordan is the director for the Phelps Center for Cerebral Palsy at the Kennedy Krieger Institute. She attended medical school at the University of Rochester and completed residency in Pediatric Neurology at Washington University at St. Louis. She started her career at Children’s Mercy Hospital after which she moved to Vanderbilt, where she cared for children with cerebral palsy and complex genetic movement disorders, created a pediatric arm to the Vanderbilt level 1 HDSA Center of Excellence and co-founded the Tourette Association of America Center of Excellence at Vanderbilt. Prior research includes understanding the effects of stress on youth who are at-risk for Huntington’s disease, co-occurring conditions in Tourette syndrome and potential treatments options for dyskinetic cerebral palsy.
